Matthew Study: Part 5/28 (2)

Hey Girls!
This is the next part of Matthew 5:

Verse 13
For me personally, I love salt, I like putting it on my spaghetti with Olive Oil….Mmmm! Salt is the flavour for many things. We even have a section of our tongues just for salty food! If the salt loses its flavour, how will we season our food?? So the same way we must not lose our passion for the Lord.

Verse 14-16
Light…shine your light brighter before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in Heaven. What are good works? They are doing things for the Kingdom, praying for people, or just helping our homeless people.

Verse 17-18
Jesus did not come to destroy the law, He came to fulfill it. What is the Law? The law is everything God commanded us to that does not involve the Temple/Tabernacle (since the Temple doesn’t exist any longer), that involves how to cleanse of sins, leprosy etc. (Jesus came to clean us, no longer Unclean because of His death on the cross). So we need to keep the Law. He said not one tiny thing will pass away from the Law until HEAVEN AND EARTH pass away, has heaven and earth passed away yet? Jesus kept the law, why aren’t we?

Verse 19
Jesus knows that we aren’t perfect but why does he say “he who breaks the LEAST of these commandments, and teaches men to do so, he shall be called LEAST in the kingdom of heaven”? I break the commandments A LOT! “But whoever does and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” What do u think this means, and who do you think you are?

Verse 20
how righteous were the scribes and Pharisees? Very righteous, they kept the law…. Tried to anyway! Well we have to EXCEED their righteousness! If we don’t we won’t enter the kingdom of heaven…

Verse 21-26
see Jesus raised the standard, you see here that if you are angry at your brother/sister/anyone for no reason, whoever calls names to his brother shall be in danger of hell fire! I think we are ALL guilty of that. That’s why Jesus died for us! And make sure you say sorry and forgive the person.

Read the rest for next week!
